Top Ten 8 Thanksgiving Week :)

Top Ten Authors You'd Like to Have at Your Turkey Day 

Dinner Table

1. JRR Tolkien. This man opened up my world to the creation of fantastical lands and adorable Hobbits. I can think of no other author I'd dearly love to meet and share a bite with than Mr. Tolkien. 

2. Gail Carriger (okay we're two for two on two proper English authors who don't celebrate this holiday, swell) oh and one is dead, lol) I heart the Soulless Books so very much. I would be honored to have a meal with such a witty and clever lady, and you got it, Gail would insist we all dress in our finest attire and it would certainly be flavored after the well-mannered Victorians with a steamy twist.

3.  Brandon Sanderson. I am in awe of how fast this authors writes books, not only is he quick, but each story still captures my full attention and I can't help but want to be in each book. He would  be a kick ass dinner guest.
4. Libba Bray. She seems like an absolute hoot.  I think we would get along quite well.
5. Kristin Cashore. Kristin is a beautiful writer and her two books are favorites of mine. I can't wait for Bitterblue next year.
6. Sarah Allen Addison. This author writes the most whimsical and charming stories, and I bet she would bring a kick-ass dessert since she writes about food in all her books.
7. Jane Austen (yea I had to go there) Ms. Austen is my hero. Simple.
8. Richelle Mead. and maybe she could bring Adrian, lol
9. Kim Harrison. The Hollows is one epic series that has me laughing and growing with her fabulous characters.
10. Patrick Rothfuss. I can't get enough of my high adventure fantasy authors.

Top Ten Tuesday Week 7 :)

This weeks topic is: Top Ten Books That Have Been on My Shelf the Longest! 




I am unfortunately at work, so I can't recall the books in which have occupied  my shelves the longest, but will do my best.


1. The first few books in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Once I heard Sanderson was taking over the series I just knew I'd want to read his finishing touches on the series, but I just haven't made the time to start this epic series. Not yet at least.

2. Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. I absolutely adored the Shopaholic books, but I tried to read this one when it released back in 2009, alas it still sits on my shelf.


3. Bloodring and Seraphs by Faith Hunter. I bought these ages ago. I don't think I'll ever read these. 


4. Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. I borrowed this from a friend and I really do want to read it, but I know its supposed to be so sad. :( Some day


5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I don't know if I'll ever read this, lol. infact I have books 1-4, but IDK, I've heard such mixed reviews I can't make up my mind.


6. The Heir Chronicles by Cinda Chima Williams. I LOVE her Seven Realms Series, I just haven't read this one yet. Has anyone read these? Am I missing out?


7. Glimmerglass by Jenna Black. I loved this cover and it was on sale so I went for  it.  I feel like the Iron Fey takes the cake on faerie books. 


8.The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine, I think I have books 1-9, I read her weather warden books. I should really make sometime for these.


9. Atonement by Ian McWan. I actaully tried reading this, long time ago, but couldn't get into it , I'd like to try again.


10. Stones from the River by Ursual Hegi. My mom gave this books to me years ago and I failed at reading it. This book has seriously grand reviews, not sure why I didn't read it.






I have plenty more of books that have been neglected. Maybe on the next read-a-thon I will only read books that have been on my shelf longer two months.

Ten Books Perfect for Reading Around Halloween!

1. The Name of the Star: Maureen Johnson. I just started this actually. It's set in present day London and someone is copycating (spelling?)Jack the Ripper. It's suspenseful and creepy.

2. Dearly Departed: Lia Habel. I haven't read this yet but it sounds like stellar read and very appropriate for Halloween, Zombies, nuff said and I am such a sucker for anything steampunk or victorian era.

Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read

But Me...

1. Wither by Lauren DeStefano: I own it and I've been meaning to read it, for what seems like forever now, but, alas, it just hasn't made it to the tippy top of my pile yet. 

2. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness: I own this too, in eBook and physical. Now, mind you, I just bought it in hardback so I'm sure I will read it soon. There are certain books I prefer reading the physical copy and not an ebook of. This is one of those.

3. Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter: I read Heist Society about a month ago and am looking forward to the sequel. I don't own this yet.

4. The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting: I don't own any of her books but they always seem to pop up and I'm starting to really want to what all the fuss is about. I love the covers too.

5. The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong: I own book 1 & 2 but haven't ever been in the right mood. I read Bitten from her Woman of the Otherworld series and really liked it but wasn't able to get into Stolen so I kind a gave up on KA, but I do really want to eventually read her Darkest Powers series...

6. Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning: I own books 1-4 (i think) and I technically read the first book, but I wasn't over impressed. I started and skimmed book 2. Meh, maybe I just wan't in the right mind set? Everyone I know who has read them adores each book. Sigh. Maybe I'll give the series another shot?

7. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr: Yes, I read book one and skimmed book two but I don't get it... at all. These books were so boring and the hype behind them is bogus, lol. I guess I am just biased because I love The Iron Fey series soo much.

8. The Help by Katheryn Stockett: I watched the movie and enjoyed it. Don't have much desire to read it. 

9. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald: I can't believe I've never read this book. I mean really? I am going to read it before this year is over. Done and done.

10. Inferno by Dante: I really feel like everyone of my friends has read this and I'm clueless. lol. Oh well. I'm not sure if I will ever read this one.

I'm glad I read Anna and the French Kiss on Sunday :)

What is your Top Ten TBR Books of Fall 2011?

Let the fun begin...

1. The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton: First off, GORRRGEOUS cover. I am such a cover whore, I can't help it... you know you feel the same way too... This debut novel sounds fancytastic. Stories that are set in Victorian England get my corset extra tight, and to top it off it has to do with the spellbinding Fey. Eeek. Obviously, I am anxiously anticipating the release of this book. Release Date 9-27-2011. 
2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: Yep, another stunning cover but what really sold me on this book was the praise by one of my all time favorite authors, Patrick Rothfuss. He raved about it. So, that is all I needed to know. SOLD.  Release Date 9-27-2011.
3. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson: I think this story may have it all: Princess, check. The Chosen One, check. Hero, check. Magic, check. Prophecy, check. Yep, sounds like it will rock my world. Release Date 9-20-2011.
4. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: This sounds creepy and eerie. I don't usually read this genre of book but between the cover and the buzz it's getting, I'm very interested. Release Date 9-27-2011
5. Dearly Departed by Lia Habel: I have been wanting to read more zombie-esque books but haven't quite found one I want to pop my cherry with BUT Dearly Departed sounds enchanting and wait for it, zombies AND a futuristis- steampunk -manners -version -of-Victorian England. I'm in heaven. Can it be October yet? Oh and how can I not mention the stunning cover? Release Date 10-18-2011 
6. Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon: Form the reviews I have read, this books seems to be in its own class of awesome-ness. I look forward to reading it and experiencing the passion and the power of this book. Release Date  10-4-2011
7.  The Pledge by Kimbely Derting: I haven't read her Body Finder's Series....yet, but they are definitely moving closer to my tippy top of the TBR pile.  This books screams intensity and power. Release Date 11-15-2011
8. Cossed by Ally Condie: I wasn't completely mesmerized by Matched like everyone else, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the whole concept and I'm thinking book two is really going to shine for me. Release Date 11-1-2011
9. Darker Still (Magic Most Foul) by Leanna Renee Hieber: I tried reading her Strangely Beautiful  book. didn't really capture my attention, but this book sounds va-va-awesome. Dorain Gray meets Pride and Prejudice with a Dash of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. And check out that gorgeous cover. Release Date 11-1-2011
10. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare: I know this book is totally popping up like gremmlins in water on TEP TEN this week but I need to know. I want it now. Release Date (NOT SOON ENOUGH) 12-6-2011

This Top Ten Tuesday it's a freebie -- use this week to write a top ten list about ANYTHING in literature. Maybe you have a more specific list you want to do (Top Ten Dystopians, Top Ten Creatures in Paranormal Lit, Top Ten Classics, etc) or something completely your own?

Top Ten  Books on 2012

in no particular order

1. Diva by Jillian Larkin: Take me back the days of flappers, speakeasies and the freedom to be whatever you wanted to be. I have really enjoyed the series so far and I can;t wait to see how Ms. Larkin wraps up her story in Diva due out sometime in 2012.

2. Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins: I am so anxious for book three in the snarky and wild series created by the brilliant Rachel Hawkins. I definitely didn't get enough of an Archer Cross fix in Demonglass.  I want more and I want it NOW.  

3. Timeless by Gail Carriger: I couldn't read Heartless fast enough. The book was flawless and full of such silly descipritons of dandys and the state of Alexia being hugely pregnant, I found this to be the best story the bunch, thus far. I really think all bets are off in Timeless.  

4.City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare: City of Fallen Angels left the reader hanging and I am dying to know what is going to happen. At times (esp with this author) to just wait until all the books are out because her cliff hangers are terrible :) 

5. The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead: I have't even read Bloodlines yet but I am such fan of anything RM. And just look at this cover!

6. Endlessly by Kiersten White: I'm hoping book three is better than book two. I enjoyed Supernaturally but I couoldn't stand Evie's lying and I want more Lend.

7. Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden Book 1) by Julie Kagawa: After her famous Iron Fey series I cannot wait to see what Julie has in store for us in her new series. AWESOME

8. Insurgent (Book 2) by Veronica Roth: Divergent rocked my world this summer and Insurgent is probably going to more intense. I just cannot wait!

9. Dreamless (Book 2) by Josephine Angelini: Well, I think this is an obvious choice. I mean Stracrossed was INCREDIBLE. I loved all the crazy and over-the-top drama. 

10. Tiger's Destiny (Book 4) by Colleen Houck: Oh man, I didn't even know this was going to be a saga, I thought after Tiger's Voyage, we'd be done but I am looking forward to this book. I love me some cursed Indian Princes. :)

Top Ten Underrated Book

1. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken: This is beautifully told fantasy novel, lyrical writing, a hot wizard to boot and a lot great and suspenseful action.

2. Vixen by Jillian Larkin: Jazz era, speakeasy, liquor and flappers. I thought Ms. Larkin did an excellent job of weaving a lovely and thrilling story in Vixen.  I think this book was overlooked because Anna Godbersen also wrote a YA book that is set during the 20s as well, personally I enjoyed both but I think Vixen was was better written and boy oh, just wait til the ending. GASP.

3. The Gardella Chronicles by Colleen Gleason: I just don't know very many people who have read this series and it is a crying shame. If you love vampires, great writing and a kick ass heroine in fancy dresses with deadly accessories in her hair, you'll adore Victoria Gardella. And with leading men whose names are Maximilian and Sebastien, you cannot go wrong. I promise you this series isn't your average Vampire Hunter series, you will not be disappointed.

4. The Troy Trilogy by David Gemmell: I've mentioned this series before here on this blog but honestly I can't give it enough praise. This story is one of epic proportions; if you love beautifully crafted characters who are so real and flawed, raw and heartbreaking romance, and mythology... you will be sucked into this story and you'll so upset to see it in end in book three. I cried, laughed, cried some more and fell hopelessly in love with these characters and I know you will too. (the writing is beautiful and once the story end you will find yourself thinking about and wondering...)

5. Sugar Queen by Sarah Allen Addison: I know she is pretty popular in normal fiction but I wish more YA fans would read this book. It's warm , enchanting and oh so charming. The story is fresh and full of the most subtle and at times not so subtle magic (books just magically appear, I'd take that any day) It's a romance with a dash of the whimsical and you will not want this book to end.

6. Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray: I feel like this series has never gotten the same attention as her contemporary books. I am such a sucker for historical fiction books set in Victorian/Regency England. It's my cocaine. lol. This is a series of magic, deceit, Gypsies and love. If you enjoy this time period, check out the first book A Great and Terrible Beauty. :)

I know this is supposed to be a top 10 list but I think this sums up the ones I can think of at this time. I know there are plenty more... This will do for now :) And if you can't tell, I am really into trilogies and sagas :)
